Redmi, a Xiaomi sub-brand, launched the Redmi Watch 2 Lite smartwatch in India today, alongside the Redmi Note 11 Pro and Redmi Note 11 Pro+. The smartphones were unveiled at a physical offline event in Bengaluru by Redmi. The Redmi Watch 2 Lite is a low-cost smartwatch that will be available in the country starting March 15. Along with other features, the Redmi Watch 2 Lite has a 5ATM water resistance rating and a SpO2 sensor. Let’s take a look at the price of the Redmi Watch 2 Lite as well as its specifications and features:
Specifications and Features
The new Redmi Watch 2 Lite has the same design and builds quality as the previous Redmi smartwatches. This translates to a large, squarish watch face with rounded corners made entirely of plastic. The watch strap is made of TPU, a material that can be used to replace hard plastic in a variety of devices.
The good news is that you can choose from a wide range of colours this time. The Redmi Watch 2 Lite will be available in six different colours, though the watch face will only be available in three colours: Ivory, Black, and Blue. In addition to the three colours mentioned above, the watch strap also comes in Pink, Olive, and Brown colours. So there are three solid-colour options: Ivory, Black, and Blue, as well as three mixed-colour options: an Ivory watch face with Olive and Pink straps, and one model with Black watch face and Brown strap.
Users will be able to customise the watch face with over 100 watch faces on the 1.55-inch TFT touchscreen with a resolution of 320 x 360 pixels, in addition to the design. The watch face’s dimensions are 41.2mm x 35.3mm in length and width, and 10.7mm in thickness, thanks to the large screen. The Watch 2 Lite weighs 35 grammes with the strap, which should be sufficient for most smartwatch users.
In terms of functionality, Redmi claims that the Watch 2 Lite will include more than 100 fitness modes for tracking your workouts and daily activities. There are a total of 17 professional modes to choose from, as well as other, less mainstream options.
The watch also has the ability to measure SpO2, or Blood Oxygen Saturation Level, which can aid in health monitoring. Then there’s 24-hour heart rate tracking, which can send you an alert if your heart rate drops too quickly or falls too low. Stress monitoring, sleep monitoring, breathing training modes, and female health tracking with periodic reminders are among the other features. The Xiaomi Wear, Xiaomi Wear Lite app allows users to keep track of all of this information on their smartphone.
The Redmi smartwatch is powered by a 262mAh battery that Redmi claims will last 10 days under normal conditions and 14 hours in continuous GPS sports mode. Magnetic pins on the back of the watch face allow for magnetic charging. Bluetooth 5.0 is used for connectivity, and it is compatible with smartphones running Android 6.0 or iOS 10.0.
During the launch, Xiaomi highlighted a few improvements to the smartwatch. The device is water-resistant up to 5 ATM, according to the manufacturer, and can be used underwater and in the shower. It also has a high-precision GPS chip that works with all four major global positioning systems: GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BDS.
