About The Company
Stan Shih Chen Jung and his buddies founded Acer in 1976 with an investment of $25,000. The company, Multitech International, started out by designing hand-held electronic games before moving on to distributing semiconductors from developing countries at a lower price.
In 1981, Acer Inc. was formed. ‘Micro professor’ was their first successful product and provided them with revenue for their future endeavors. Before long, the company began producing personal computers, which they sold to other companies under their well-known brands.
It was Acer that was the first to sell its products directly. Only by investing their profits in research and development was this possible. It was able to develop the first Chinese language computer in 1986 thanks to the Intel 386 processor!
