It was the robotics firm that worked in developing the surgical robotics arm assistance platform. However, Rony handover this firm to Stryker corporation for 1.65 billion dollars in 2013.
Early life
He was born in 1971 to an Orthodox Jewish family in Israel. In 1962, Abovitz family was shifted to Cleveland for his father’s work. From childhood, Rony was trained in video games and luckily he got the computer at the age of 8. Most of the time of Rony’s childhood was spent in Cleveland. However, the family again shifted to Florida in 1983.
Education
He attended Nova High School in Florida for the primary education. At a young age, Rony decided to choose a career as a scientist. For that, he attended the University of Miami to study biomedical engineering. But Rony Abovitz actually worked in the field of virtual reality.

From childhood, Rony was interested in video games. The computer was s fascinating thing for him. His curiosity turned into an interest in the research field. After graduation, Rony set up Mako Surgical Corp that enabled the robotics surgical arm assistance platform.

Thus, he decided to jump in this field, and in 2011 he set up Magic Leap. A virtual reality firm based in Florida. For a long time, he served as CEO of the company.

Initially, the firm Magic leap was known as Magic leap studios. Working especially in Graphic film series and Novel. In 2011, Rony decided to make it as a corporation and launched the augmented reality-based application. During 2013- 2014, the Magic leap was operating in stealth mode. But at the same time, the firm managed to raise the investment from Google and several other firms. Including, Kleiner Perkin, Qualcomm, Andreessen Horowitz, etc.

To explore the business, Magic leap time to time used the acquisition strategy. It started with acquiring NorthBit, a cybersecurity firm in 2016. Just after on year, it acquired the company Dacuda which was the Swiss computer vision company. In 2019, Magic leap captured Mimesys. So that it can develop video conferencing software for its platform.
