The company services include digital supply chain, artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure, data management, enterprise applications, etc. Before becoming Zensar Technologies, it was known as International Computers Limited India, with a history as old as 1922. Today, over 10,000 people are working for Zensar, and as per 2021 records, the company made annual revenues worth US$494.0 million.

Founding Zensar Technologies

Zensar Technologies started its software development journey in 1991, as International Computers Limited (ICIL). The company history dates back to 1922 when it was just a manufacturing unit of a British original equipment manufacturing firm. In later years, the unit became ICIM (International Computers Indian Manufacture), and in 1963, it went public on the Bombay Stock Exchange. ICIM started to focus more on software starting from 1991 and closed its hardware manufacturing unit by 1999.
In 2001, ICIM received its new name, Zensar Technologies, with most of its shares being held by the RPG Group. As Zensar, the company began to provide application management services to its clients. In the following years, the company started its growth through multiple acquisitions. It acquired companies including OBT global (2005), ThoughtDigital (2007), Akibia Inc (2010), EZA (2013), Professional Access Inc (2014), Foolproof, Inc. (2016), Keystone Logic (2017), Indigo Slate(2018), Cynosure INC (2018), M3bi (2021), etc.
In 2012, about 11000 people were working for Zensar, and it started to serve globally. In fact, by 2018, Zensar had opened offices in 20 different countries in North America, the UK, various parts of Europe and South Africa. The innovative work of Zensar Technologies has won many recognitions for it, including Niche Player 2019 for managed mobility services by Gartner Magic Quadrant and BIG Innovation Award for Technology in 2021.

Ajay S. Bhutoria is the current CEO and the Managing Director at Zensar Technologies. Bhutoria has more than 30 years of work experience and has worked at various well-established companies on all the continents.
Bhutoria happens to be a Charted Accountant by qualification but started his career as a Solution Architect at Software Research Centre Ltd., ICAI. Later he joined TCS (Netherlands) and worked for ten years in various positions at the company. In 2002, Bhutoria switched to Cognizant and became the Global Head of Retail, Consumer Goods, Travel & Hospitality at the company. He also became the Chief Executive at L&T in 2019 and remained so for ten months. In January 2021, Bhutoria became the CEO and MD of Zensar Technologies and held the Princeton, New Jersey, United States office of the company.

The Back Story

TietoEVRY started its operations as an IT systems development and maintenance company in 1968 in n Espoo, Finland, and went by the name Tietotehdas Oy. The company worked as the provider of computer services and software for the mainframe computers, Union Bank of Finland is one of its first customers. The company despite being a newbie started to grow at a rapid rate in its beginning years. The arrival of minicomputers helped the company grow to a great extent. In the late 70s and early 80s, the company added many customers from different industries.
The decade of the 90s was when TietoEVRY started to make acquisitions and was involved in multiple mergers and partnerships, resulting in even faster growth. In the mid of 90s, TietoEVRY had a name change to TT Tieto, and later in 1998, the company name was again changed to Tieto. This was the same time when the company also started to try new things and entered the Telecom business by acquiring Avancer.

The Growth Years

In 1999, Tieto merged its operations with the Swedish Enator corporation and formed TietoEnator. The partnership went on for about ten years, and in 2008, through a restructuring process, the company became Tieto Corporation, establishing its headquarters in Helsinki. With the all-new revamping of the company, it started to expand overseas, too.
In 2015, Tieto made some of the major acquisitions, to expand its business in the field of digital Customer Experience Management and to support, including Smilehous, one of the biggest Finnish consultants and service providers, Imano AB, and Software Innovation. These acquisitions have helped the company to grow in the field of digital Customer Experience Management, consulting, and digitalization services in paper and forestry industries as well as enterprise content management. In 2019, the company merged the operations of another IT company named Evry and formed TietoEVRY, the current trading name for the company.

The CEO at TietoEVRY

Kimmo Alkio is the current CEO and the President of TietoEVRY. He is a native of Finland and was born on 25 October 1963 in Helsinki, Finland. He has got a bachelor’s degree in business from Texas A&M University, USA, and an Executive MBA degree from the Helsinki University of Technology, Finland.
Alkio is a renowned Finnish businessman. He is also a former professional Tennis Player and has won doubles titles in Helsinki in the period between 1981 to 1987. In his corporate career, Alkio has worked at companies like Nokia, F-Secure Corporation, Digital Equipment Corporation, and Compaq Computer in various management positions. Alkio joined TietoEVRY in 2011 as the CEO and the President.

CACI International Inc. is an American information technology company that mainly works for the US federal government as 95% of the company contracts are from the federal government. The company headquarters is in Arlington, Virginia. Though it mainly works to provide IT services to the intelligence and the defense department of the government, it operates in different countries to offer custom software and IT services to its customers overseas.

The variety of services offered by CACI International Inc. includes manufacturing of technology systems, custom software development, integration and operations, simulation, and development of the proprietary database as well as software products.

The Back Story CACI International

Herb Karr and Harry Markowitz left their well-paying job at RAND Corporation to establish CACI in 1962. The company was founded on July 17 of the same year, and the main focus of the company was to sell the SIMSCRIPT simulation programming language. SIMSCRIPT is the first simulation programming language, which the two founders had developed at RAND Corporation.

The optimized planning of starting the company brought $34,000 in revenue to the founders in its first year of operations. In 1963, the company bagged a contract from the government to develop an inventory control simulation for the Navy’s Ships Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. In the first five years, the company released a compiler to translate the SIMSCRIPT programs named Simscript 1.5 and also started to work on information processing systems, QUICK QWERY being their first such proprietary product.

The Growth and Expansion

CACI started with the name California Analysis Center, Inc. and was later changed to Consolidated Analysis Center, Incorporated in 1967. The next year, just in six years of its inception, CACI went public and topped the revenues by $1 million.

For the ten years of its beginning, CACI was offering its services to various departments of the state government like from management of vehicle registration to licensing and wheeled-vehicle revenue support and from false emergency alarm billing systems to housing registration systems. And in 1974, the company put its first step forward to expand in other countries as well. CACI established its first headquarter in Europe, i.e., in The Hague. The other European offices were set up in the major cities in Europe, like London, Dublin, Milan, and Bermuda This expansion brought the company $1 million of revenues within three years. By the end of the decade, CACI had won contracts from the US Defence and the Department of Justice. 

In the 80s, CACI started to expand its operations and entered into the field of IT. During these years, it made revenues worth $100 million annually. In 1988, CACI developed and marketed optical imaging systems for records management as its proprietary product.

The beginning of the 90s made CACI experiment with the emerging networking technology. During the same time, the company made some of the major acquisitions, including American Legal Systems Corp., some shares of the government-owned SofTech, Pinpoint Analysis Ltd. and Miracle Products Ltd., etc. These years brought the company around $200 to $250 million annual revenues. The expansion into the IT sector made CACI start projects in partnership with names like AT&T, IBM, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft, Oracle, Sun Microsystems, and Unisys, etc. By this time, the company had started to deal in computer hardware, software, and database products.

Beginning with the year 2000, CACI made some major investments and acquisitions. In 2002, it also moved from the NASDAQ to the Big Board on the New York Stock Exchange. Till now, the company had opened around 90 offices in the US and Europe. In 2004, the revenues of the company touched the $1 billion mark, and it became a Unicorn company. The average annual revenue for the company has been around $5.7 billion for the past few years, and approximately 23,000 employees are working for the company around the world. The company has been constant in the Fortune 1000 Largest Companies list for many years.

The CEO: John Mengucci

John Mengucci has been serving CACI as the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) since July 2019. He is known for his leadership skills as he has been working at some prominent positions at various big-name companies. Mengucci has a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Science from Clarkson University, which he completed in 1984. After he completed the bachelor’s degree, he started to work as a software engineer at Babcock & Wilcox in 1984 and then, joined Syracuse University in 1992 to pursue an MBA degree.

In June 2006, Mengucci became the president of the IS&GS-Defense department at Lockheed Martin, and in 2010, he was appointed as the president of the Global Solutions-Civil department of the same company. He then left the company to join CACI in 2012.
