Gaming has become pretty popular among youngsters nowadays. It is one of the leading sectors of the tech industry. So, It is improving and developing day by day. Many brands in the market manufacture their products solely for gaming. One of the famous brands is Alienware, an American computer hardware subsidiary of Dell. Its Headquarters is located in Miami, Florida. It assembles PC gaming consoles, desktop computers, workstations, and notebooks.

History

Alienware was established on October 24, 1996, by two childhood friends, Nelson Gonzalez and Alex Aguila, in Miami. It was named “Saikai” of Miami, inspired by a hit television series, The X-Files, which also encouraged its product lines, such as Area-51, hangar 18, and Aurora. It changed its name to Alienware in 1997.

Michael Dell is the chief executive officer of Alienware and Vivan Lien is the Vice president. Some key people who played a significant role in its establishment are Joe Balerdi, Arthur Lewis, and Frank Azor.

Acquisition by Dell

Dell acquired it in March 2006, an American company that develops, repairs, and sells computer-related products and services. The talk of it being bought by dell was in the air before it. Dell had considered buying it in 2002 but finally decided after four years. It allowed Alienware to retain its design and marketing while benefiting from Dell’s purchase, lowering its operational cost. After the acquisition, there were two gaming pc lines; one was by Alienware, and the other was XPS within Dell. Alienware’s market share decreased. In 2008, It died down because of some restructural changes in the corporate market, making Alienware Dell’s premier brand. It introduced its first branded system, M17x, in March 2009.

Michael Saul Dell Is an American Businessman and The CEO of Dell Technologies and Alienware. He is also a humanitarian. He is listed as the 20th richest person in the world by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with a net worth of 60 billion US dollars (February 2022). He was born and brought up in Houston, Texas. His father was a stockbroker, so he knew about stocks at a young age. He even started to invest in stocks in his early teens. He was tech-savvy since childhood. He was given his first computer, an Apple II, at age 15. He dissembled it to see how it worked. His parents wanted him to be a doctor. So, he took pre-med at the University of Texas and simultaneously started an informal business. He began assembling and selling upgrade kits for personal computers. He registered his company under the name “PC’s Limited” in 1984, which became “Dell Computer Corporation” the same year. He became the youngest CEO at the age of 27 in 1992. In 1998, He founded MSD capital to manage investments. He led Dell Technologies through a crucial stage to the success we see today.

Nelson Gonzalez and Alex Aguila – Founders

Nelson Gonzalez and Alex Aguila were two childhood friends who grew up in Miami, Florida, playing video games together. Gonzalez was two years older than Aguila. They shared a great interest in video games which became the foundation of their Gaming career. They are also greatly interested in the Sci-fi series, which their Alien-themed product series name can see. They spent hours with computers to test them against different games in their high school years. Gonzalez was fond of flight simulation games. His favorite game was “falcon 3.0”. Their thirst for gaming-friendly computers pushed them to start Alienware.

China is one of the biggest exporters of electronics and computer hardware across the globe. There are several companies that have made a strong market presence over the past few decades and Inventec Corporation is one of them. Founded in 1975, Inventec is a Taiwan-based publicly traded company based in Taipei. Kou-I Yeh founded the company and currently serves as President of the Inventec Group.

History of the Company

Born in 1975 with a capital of $1 million, Inventec made impressive growth in the first decade of its business. In 1987, the company was awarded the “PIP Optimal Growth Partner Award” by SEARS. The same year, Inventec made it to the top 20 list of companies recognized as national export excellent manufacturers. In 1988, Inventec’s IPO was approved and it started making plans to expand overseas. The company eventually started manufacturing notebook laptop computers and other hardware products. In 1989, Inventec Besta was established as an independent subsidiary for producing electronic dictionaries. Inventec also started manufacturing phone fax machines via Inventec Electronics.

In the early 1990s, the company went on a partnership with TIM Electronics and Toshiba Co to manufacture communication products. It also received the excellent manufacturer award given by Texas Instruments in 1991. Inventec has its biggest market in China but apart from that the company also invested in opening new units in Hong Kong. In China, it has more than one operating and manufacturing unit including Beijing, Tianjin, Nanking, etc. As Inventec rolled out the reading electronic dictionary, it won the Taiwan Boutique Award in 1984.

Sales and Expansion

Inventec was majorly responsible for manufacturing computer notebooks and in 2000 it manufactured four million units of the same for Compaq Computers. These notebook computers bagged the Best Buy Award from PC World. Some of the other major clients who did business with Inventec are Hewlett Packard company IEC Technologies. In 2008, the annual sales of the company summed up to more than $10 billion. As the sale and annual revenue kept increasing by several folds, the company also established plenty of R&D facilities for better quality products and more innovation.

Inventec also became famous for its social responsibility and bagged the Corporate Social Responsibility Award by Global Views Magazine in 2009. The same year, the company also became the recipient of the “Carbon Reduction Model Enterprise Award” by the government. So far, Inventec has been awarded uncountable awards for both its performance and sustainability.

Tom Cho is the current Chairman of the Inventec Corporation and he focuses on achieving the first goal of Inventec, i.e., incorporating new AI trends, 5G technology, and Industry 4.0 for the company’s growth. Cho graduated from National Taiwan University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1985, he became a part of Inventec and worked primarily in multimedia, telecom, and other subsidiaries.

Maurice Wu is the working President of Inventec Corporation and he joined the company in 1980. For the last 30 years, he has continuously led the company towards bigger success and innovation. Maurice focuses more on the sustainable goals of the company and he also has experience in manufacturing, product development, and management.
