Also, the firm designed clubman style cars that were popular in Australia. The mastermind behind NOTA is Guy Buckingham. To follow his passion to dedicate life in the automotive industry, Guy has to pay a big price. Yes, the path selected by Guy caused the disputes in family. But he was firm to achieve his chosen path in life. For that, he moved to Australia. He designed the first model of NOTA in 1952 called christened the Arnold.

Early life
He was Englishman by birth, born on 11 Feb 1921. During his teenage, he learned mechanical things at a very basic level as a part of family business training. Buckingham’s family had been working in the field of jewelry. As well, famous in the business of timepieces and clocks. Young Guy was trained to work in the family business. In fact, he worked for several years. During World War 2, he worked in Royal Air Force’s Aircraft maintenance. Guy had never thought that his life is gone changed after this incident.
Life-changing incident
An ordinary boy, working in the field of timepieces got noticed by RAF. The officials of RAF found extraordinary talent in Guy and sent him to study aeronautical engineering. After the war ended, he goes back home and joined the family business. But this time, it was completely new Guy, attracted to motoring. Now, he wanted to work in the mechanical field. Thus, he left the family business.
Steps into the Automobile industry
After the end of World War 2 and cars on short supply allowed him to involved in the business he wanted to. Grabbing the golden chance, Guy started to work in car construction during the late 1940s. In 1952, he designed the first car christened Arnold and made his mark in the automotive industry. During this period, he also designed Austin 7 based cars favoring the English style.
The backstory of founding NOTA
Guy had decided to work in the automotive industry. However, the family wanted him to join the family business. This contradiction resulted in inevitable friction in the family. During that period, Guy had crafted his first car model. But due to family clashes, he decided to located in Australia. Fortunately, his uncle was living in Australia, working at Jaguar and Rover as a specialist repairer. Through his uncle, Guy got a job easily in his field of interest.
He continued his passion and set up NOTA in 1955 in Australia. Actually, he had set up this firm at Oxford in 1953 but in 1955 the actual work gets started.

Apart from designing the cars, Nota also jumped into the making of suspension for all types of vehicles. Over the years, it started repairing-unit for the same.
