inscripts

CEO of Inscripts is the 16-year-old who developed his own company along with his twin brother

The digital era has spread its arm to warmly welcome the web developers, software developers, web designers, data scientists, etc. There are many roles for people in this digital world to participate and contribute to the technology sector. Gaining knowledge in fields like IoT, competitive programming, data analysis, web designing increases the chances of landing a job in this constantly upgrading world. We have come across many legendary scientists and programmers who started coding from a very young age. They built their website, established their business, etc from scratch. Anuj Garg is one such persona in today’s world who created his own company Inscripts at the age of sixteen. With the support of his twin brother, Anant Garg, their business has achieved great success in a less interval of time.

The tale of two brothers behind Inscripts

From a very young age, both Anuj and his brother were interested in running and exploring the world of technology. At the age of four, their uncle bought them their first computer and this is when it all began. He started exploring the internet which led him to develop various products before launching Inscripts. They began their entrepreneurial journey by creating an alumni programme at school. One thing led to another and they ended up creating Inscripts in 2001.

Founding a company at the age of 16

After developing the alumni programme which was sheer out of interest and need, they had an understanding of market demand. So, when they were in Standard X, Anuj and his brother developed their company, Inscripts. They set up the company from their home and it was based on web development.

Initially, they created different products and put it online. When they tried to sell it, they were surprised that people were showing interest. So, eventually, their market expanded and they started hiring full-time employees. Anuj said that people buying their products were a great encouragement for them.

Struggle and Success of Inscripts

Anuj worked with a bunch of freelancers. Many people don’t tend to work for small companies or start-ups. So, they faced difficulties at the beginning especially because they were just school students back then. One year after launching Inscripts they received a big proposal from an oil company. So, they fled to Delhi to confirm the project but were unfortunately turned down because they were seventeen back then.

But, with years of struggles, they reached at a better position by 2007. At the beginning of 2008, Inscripts dealt with clients across 30 countries. They mainly sold their products to small and medium enterprises. Anuj’s main target was to sell the company’s products to those businesses that cannot afford expensive solutions. At a cheap price, the quality is compromised but Anuj took it as a challenge and developed quality products at an affordable rate.

Anuj also faced many challenges tackling foreign clients. They already had a negative impression of Indian companies that the product will be cheap and of unsatisfying quality. Anuj said that cheap product doesn’t necessarily mean degraded quality. Because it is a real breakthrough to produce high demanding quality products at a cheaper rate. So, it shouldn’t always be the judging criteria.

Launching Say Namaste

Recently, the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the user base for the video conferencing apps. With Zoom becoming vulnerable to the security breach and privacy leakage, Inscripts launched Say Namaste to replace Zoom. The Indian government announced a challenge a month ago. It announced that whoever will be able to come up with a secure video conferencing platform will be awarded prize money.

And, that is how Inscripts released the beta version of Say Namaste last month. Within 48 hours of the launch, Say Namaste hosted 25,000 successful meetings. The platform’s main priority is to secure privacy with high-end encryption. Currently, it is working on releasing an iOS app and expanding the strength of one meeting from 25 to 100 people.

CometChat

After co-founding Inscripts, Anuj created a chat platform, CometChat in 2009. It is a Chat API and In-App Messaging SDK that has served foreign clients as well. Apart from India, CometChat also has an office in Colorado. Last year, it became the first Indian start-up ever to get selected into the Techstars Boulder Accelerator. It also received a seed funding of $120,000 from Techstars in 2019.

moovit

Intel All Set to Buy Smart-Transportation Start-up Moovit

The world of smart transportation has been set ablaze by advancements in science and technology. New technologies have paved the way for much smarter tech, which aids in making quick transit possible. In Israel, a lot of activity is going in this field, with several large mergers and acquisitions taking place amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the most prominent mergers being spoken about is that of Intel closing on a deal with Moovit. The chip-making giant is said to be in the final rounds of negotiation when it comes to buying this start-up that utilizes Big Data and AI to provide transit and transportation services. Here’s a look at the deal and the impact it could have on the transit industry.

Big Deal in Place

According to various sources and reports, Intel is all set to acquire Moovit, which is a service provider to over 800 million people. The start-up which uses futuristic technology to make the best decisions when it comes to transportation is a significant player in the field of smart-transit. The deal is said to close in a few days, with experts stating that it could be near $1 billion in terms of valuation. Agencies like TechCrunch have reached out to spokespersons on both sides of the deal to confirm the news. Reports state that the Moovit correspondent did not negate the information, instead saying that they will provide further details later on.

Israel- An Upcoming Automotive Capital

Moovit had made been backed by the investment company by Intel Capital earlier as a part of strategic investment. The deal will help Intel gain a foothold in the smart transport industry, making Israel their headquarters for such operations. Furthermore, Intel already has several facilities in Israel, and this acquisition will add more value to Intel’s Israeli automotive hub. The automotive revolution is spearhead by the company Mobileye.

Intel had acquired this start-up that focuses on autonomous driving, three years ago in a deal that cost them $15.3 billion. However, sources are unclear regarding what role Moovit will have in this ring or hub. Experts believe that the company will be able to provide Intel with actionable, reliable, and real-time data, which will help with intelligent routing.

One of the biggest challenges that autonomous vehicles face is routing to prevent traffic blocks and to achieve efficiency. With a company such as Moovit providing Intel with valuable real-time traffic data, they will able to guide their vehicles with ease and perfection.

Earlier Partnership

Even before the suspected acquisition, Intel had been working with Moovit. Intel had, in fact, led the Series D funding of Moovit, which brought in over $50 million in 2018. Soon after this deal, Senior VP of Intel, who also serves as the CTO of Mobileye, Amnon Shashua, joined the upcoming start-up’s Board of Directors. The sale will help both companies bring in new talent and then integrate this unique talent into an already existing framework. Reports by The Marker and Wadi Ventures state that out of the $1 billion, a portion will go to employees as a 10% retention bonus.

Fast Growth

Moovit, which was valued at $500 million during its Series D funding round, had grown tremendously in the past two years. Their standalone app, which helps with navigation around cities, became a huge success. This was soon followed by integration with cab services like Uber, which led to further popularity and surge in the number of users. By 2018, over 120 million people were using their apps from over 80 different countries. In the last two years, that number grew exponentially to hit 800 million users in over 102 different countries, with services available in 45 languages globally! The company has attracted a lot of attention in recent years, bringing in investors of the likes of Sound Ventures, Gemini Israel, LVMH, and even BMW.

Furthermore, the app has launched several services to help people during the COVID-19 crisis. These included a free service for transit data managers, which enable riders to plan their trips efficiently. Also, it has a real-time service option now to ensure that everyone gets the most accurate data and receives timely alerts. Additionally, Moovit has also come out with an emergency mobilization service, which allows managers to put out buses on routes that essential workers require the most.

The acquisition, if reports are accurate, will prove to be a significant turning point for the field of smart transportation. Already seen as one of the technologies that will soon change the way we live our lives, smart technology is a field that requires some push and investment. Since the COVID-19 has significantly curtailed our movement, the global economy is reeling as an after-effect. All of this has led to a significant slowdown in the automotive world. Therefore, in many ways, this is the best time for smart technology to enter the field. By leveraging these assets, we might be able to ignite some interest in an area that has been severely affected by the global crisis.

Imangi

IMANGI STUDIOS- THE COMPANY THAT BUILT ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS MOBILEPHONE GAMES

Apart From the hardcore game developers and video game lovers, we all love a little bit of fun gaming. Many of us also play games on mobile phones to kill time. Nowadays, kids also love playing video games. Among all the mobile phone games we have been playing since childhood, Temple Run is one of the tops. Temple Run has a very wide fan base and it is the topmost game ever launched by Imangi Studios. Imangi Studios is an American-based video game company. It develops video games for Windows, Android, and iOS phones. Natalia Luckyanova and Keith Shepherd the famous husband-and-wife team founded the company in 2008.

About the Founders

Natalia went to Harvard University to study Physics and Chemistry for her bachelor’s degree. After graduating in 2003, she went to Boston University and completed her master’s in Computer Science. Her career started as a Software Engineer for Vecna Technologies followed by a Senior Consultant at Appian Corporation. In 2008, she joined The Advisory Board Company as a Technical Business Analyst and carried out her game developing project simultaneously. After a year, she left the company and co-founded Imangi Studios.

Keith Shepherd, husband of Natalia worked in the computer industry for many years. He along with his wife founded Imangi studios. And, the release of Temple Run helped them make billions. He is the CEO of Imangi Studios.

The idea of a new company

Natalia and Keith always wanted to start their company. They didn’t want to go for a conventional 9to5 job and wanted to think something out of the box. Natalia said it was right after they got married, they decided to develop a gaming company. The couple was very intrigued by the products of Apple which pushed them a bit further so they finally took the big decision.

Keith is a huge fan of Apple. So, when the company announced that they are entertaining outside developers who can develop apps for it, the two decided to give it a shot. But, since the couple was newly married, job security became a very huge factor. So, while Keith dedicated all his time to Imangi while Natalia continued her job to support the family.

The first game

Back in 2008, when Apple decided to give a chance to the outside developers, the couple saw it as a great opportunity. Thus, both of them designed their first game which is known as Imangi. It was a type of word puzzle and very soon it was released in the App store of the company.

Since the first game worked out just fine, they deiced to hire an additional member of the team. Kiril Tchangov, an artist joined Imangi, and together they continued building games for iPhone. Imangi’s first breakthrough was when the company released Harbor Master, a sea traffic game.

History and Success of Temple Run

After the sale of Harbor Master started reducing slowly, Imangi studios came up with Temple Run. The development of Temple Run was to experiment on different ways of controlling the characters in a three-dimensional perspective. Imangi’s previous game, Max Adventure created a problem for the touchscreen users to control it. So, this time they wanted to create something better which finally led to the designing of Temple Run.

After the couple was sorted with the movements of the main character, the next tough decision was coming up with a proper theme. Since the main character was only running, they decided to make a maze theme in a jungle environment. Keith also said that they drew inspiration for their game theme from the Great Wall of China.

This is how the team builds most of its games. First, they try to define the characters, and eventually, everything falls into place surrounding them. But, the hardest thing about developing a game is adding the fun element in it. Because there is no rulebook for creating anything fun or mystery about a game. So, that needs brainstorming and experimenting with by hit and trial method. What the audience might like or dislike is often the hardest yet most important question to be answered.

Before, releasing Temple Run in the market, the company has moderate expectations. But, they were surprised to witness the high demand and positive feedbacks. It was released in 2011, and by mid-2012, the game has more than 70 million downloads.

Hulu

Jason Kilar- Founder And CEO Of Hulu To Become The Next CEO Of Warnermedia

The film industry has witnessed rapid growth for our love for entertainment. From the film studios to the movie theatres, from the orchestras to the operas, everything has bloomed over the past century. Every business has its ups and downs, but the annual revenue of the entertainment industry is rather hefty. Moreover, the pandemic has opened a huge slot of making money for the modern ways of entertainment, that is, the internet. The video streaming websites are having far more visitors during this lockdown than ever. Among these famous websites like Netflix and YouTube, Hulu has quite a remarkable journey. Founded in 2007, Hulu’s majority is owned by Walt Disney Direct-to-Consumer & International. Jason Kilar founded the company along with five other founding executives and he became the CEO of Hulu in late 2007. John Stankey, CEO of WarnerMedia announced that Jason Kilar will be replacing him as the new CEO effective 1st May 2020.

Early Life of Jason Kilar

Born in Pittsburgh, Jason went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1989. He acquired a double major in journalism and business administration and later went to Harvard Business School. After completing his bachelor’s, Jason worked as an Analyst at The Walt Disney Company for two years. He graduated from Harvard in 1997.

Career Life

In 1997, he joined Amazon as Director of Retail and left the company in 2006 after his post as Senior Vice President. Next year, Jason founded Hulu and became the CEO of the company. He also co-founded Vessel and served as its CEO for four years. Currently, he is a member of the Board of Directors for Univision Communications Inc, Opendoor, Habitat for Humanity International, and Wealthfront Inc.

New Responsibilities

As a grave position of responsibility is passed to a person with lucrative former experience, both the company and the audience embark on a new journey. For the starters, Jason’s responsibility will start with launching the ad-supportive HBO Max and making it a hit. But, Jason has said he would prefer sitting at the backseat while praising the work of Bob Greenblatt, CEO of WarnerMedia Entertainment and Director to Consumer.

Given what are the consequences of the global pandemic, the timing to welcome the new CEO of WarnerMedia is a bit odd. Movie theatres are closed for over a month, the advertising market is collapsing and negativity is winding up. So, to lighten up the mood in the room, Jason will just order pizzas and drinks for the team members of the project. And, he will give the liberty to take decisions and support them for the commendable work they have done so far.

Leadership at Hulu

Jason had shown an immense sense of responsibility and leadership at Hulu which has brought him here today. It is believed that the main reason for Hulu’s success is its smooth user experience. Hulu always had an easy and clean user interface with less load of advertising. And, most users found it very appealing although many media partners criticized it.

Jason understands how the approach of a website can change the preference for the users. For years, he has been dealing with customers in this industry. So, he always prefers establishing a trustworthy relationship with the audience and listen to their feedback carefully. Because, at the end of the day, the company is selling its product to the global audience. So, if any new invention or changes are amended, it should be for their better experience.

Future Goals

Jason has also spoken of the future planning for the company. According to him, the world has started becoming a fan of VOD. In a population of approximately 7.5 billion, only 200 million users pay for video services. So, the platform for video streaming has only started gaining popularity, and it has to go way too far. Jason also plans to invest in the right technology.

For the time being, the industry has taken a pause and it will bounce back hard after the novel coronavirus crisis. He also says that a pandemic like this will bring changes in the mentality of the customers. So, they have to play accordingly as well. The consumer behavior will change in the next ten years which will bring significant changes to how WarnerMedia thinks today.
