Sometimes, it is hectic to go outside and stuck into the traffic to buying groceries and other items on holiday. So, here’s an option to leave these tasks to Dunzo. With Dunzo, many things are possible. Like starting from the ordering grocery to delivering food, taking your clothes to laundry or getting your watch repaired. Basically, it is a hyperlocal delivery start-up that saves people’s time by doing their task as mentioned above. However, the company offers some charges per order. But still, Dunzo acquired the trusted customer. Though there are many options for free delivery services. In 2015, Kabeer Biswas founded it. Last year, Google-funded 12 Million dollars to the company. Also, it marked the first internet giant’s first-ever direct investment start-up which is homegrown. 

What is Dunzo?

Dunzo is a Bengaluru based delivery start-up. Kabeer Biswas, a young entrepreneur, and engineer establish it in 2015. Due to its horizontal delivery platform, it became favorable amongst working plus non-working residents in the city. Education and Career

Kabeer is a Mumbai University graduate in the field of engineering. After that, he went to Mumbai’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management. Thereafter, he worked at Airtel for three years. Next, he focused on his deal’s discovery company Hopper from 2011-2014. Sooner or later, Hike messenger acquired this start-up. 

The backstory of Dunzo foundation

This whole story starts after Kabeer had shifted to Bengaluru. That time, he explored the city for about six months. During this period, the idea of a hyperlocal delivery start-up pop into his mind. In January 2015, he set up Dunzo. Soon, he started the execution by delivering food, picking up groceries, and getting clock repaired. Earlier, he managed to do it himself, but as demands increased, he hired few delivery boys. In a very short period, Dunzo gain trust in the market. In fact, by the 2015 end, they have completed over 75 tasks/day. 

Evolution in Dunzo

Previously, Dunzo was a WhatsApp-based service. After rising demand, the company successfully launched a Dunzo app in February 2016. Also, it attained the AI-based concierge platform Wingman to bolster technology. Plus, Dunzo made a partnership with neighborhood stores to scale up delivery. Which also helped to set up a piece of robust local commerce machinery.

Services offered

The company offered quality service but there are no free deliveries at Dunzo. Still, many customers preferred Dunzo over free delivery services. Presently, it offers three types of services. Includes, purchase, pick up and drop, and repair and transactions. Basically, provides a horizontal platform for hyperlocal deliveries. Also, the company will enter the bike taxi business soon. 

Currently, it provides delivery services in cities like Bengaluru, Delhi, and Gurgaon. Also, in Noida, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai as well as Hyderabad.

Successes of Dunzo  

As mentioned earlier, the company not offered free delivery services. But still, it made its place among the list of rising hyperlocal delivery start-ups. In fact, it successfully generates a monthly revenue of about 1 crore. Also, the company’s per customer repeat purchases has been increased. Also, the company successfully scaled-up its delivery time. It has dropped to about 45 minutes which was more than 75 minutes earlier. In addition, the company also started a Bike Taxi service in Gurgaon.

Recently, Google the internet search giant company helped in fundraised to the company. Which can be considered as one more step to explore the business in the country

At a young age, he received many awards. Also, Bhavin marked his name in the list of Indian Billionaire.

Early life and Education

He is born on 21st December 1979 in Bombay. However, he went to Bandra’s Arya Vidya Mandir for schooling. At a very young age, he developed an interest in computers and programming. That time, he was used to teaching programming to his teacher and his friends. After that, he attended DG Ruparel college for graduation in science. But later he dropout and joined Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics.

Career

Bhavin Turakhia is a born entrepreneur. When he was 18, he set up Directi, his first tech company. That time, his brother Divyank Turakhia assisted him. Soon, he started other website ventures. Includes, BigRock, ResellerClub, Webhosting.info, and LogicBoxes. Later, these companies are sold for big money, almost 160 Million dollars. Currently, he handles the companies Flock Ringo and Radix. Also, he started a fintech company called Zeta in 2019.

Awards and Recognition

In 2016, he ranked 95th in Forbes India list of 100 richest people in India. Also, in the same year, he named Serial Entrepreneur of the year. As well, Entrepreneur of the year in innovation and Technology. Additionally, Economics Time awarded him as ETPanache Trendsetter Award in 2016. 

He also renown as Young Global Leader in 2011 by WEF in Geneva. In 2005, the Bharati Foundation and Entrepreneurship development institute of India presented him Bharti Entrepreneur of the year award. Bhavin is also serving as Chairperson of the ICANN. However, he set the record of becoming the youngest elected chairperson at ICANN.

Other than this, he attends various seminars as a guest speaker. As well, Bhavin also assists local CyberCrime Investigation Cell as a technical advisor. In addition, he launched CodeChef. It is the platform for coding competitions.

In addition, online teaching sessions are available for exams like JEE, IMO NTSE, as well as many other entrance exams. Backstory

In 2006, Vasmi Krishna set up Lakshya with his other three IITian friends Pulkit, Saurabh, and Anand. The main purpose of the company to train students for different tests. That time, they noticed that the Indian education system needs talented and motivated teachers. So, they create such a platform with the help of Lakshaya. In 2012, their first start-up that lately handover to MTEducare. After that, they set up another ed-tech start-up called Vedantu and launched for the public in 2014. Today, Vedantu has the vision to improve the education system with its superior online ed-tech platform.

Vamsi Krishna

He is the present CEO of Vedantu. However, he is well-known as a Tech Enthusiast, Edupreneur, and a Tutor. Before founding Vedantu, he also co-founded Lakshya with his college mates. They all have a teaching experience of over 13 years. Also, he served as a Management trainee at L&T for about one year. 

Vasmi Krishna earned his degree in B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. Also, he went to St Pauls Senior Secondary School at Indore.

Pulkit Jain

He is another co-founder of well-known Ed-tech start-ups Vedantu and Lakshya. Before joining that, he served at EvalueServe until 2006. Pulkit is also an IITian who graduated from IIT Roorkee. From the beginning, he is extremely passionate about entrepreneurship. Now, he is an inspiration for many young entrepreneurs for his entrepreneurial journey. 

Anand Prakash

He has studied Pulp and Paper Technology from IIT, Roorkee. Also, he studied primary education at Delhi Public School. 

Anand also helped in the establishment of Vedantu and Lakshya. Presently, he is an account academic head at Vedantu. Earlier, he was Manager at Abhishek Industries.

Saurabh Saxena

Another milestone of Vedantu, Mr. Saurabh Saxena. He has studied Chemical engineering from IIT Roorkee. He also helped in the foundation of Vedantu in 2014. Apart from that, he co-founded many such Ed-tech start-ups. Presently, he is the founder and CEO of Uable, an ed-tech company that changed the learning experience. Also, he is the director of Ekya Schools.

In 2016, Vedantu won the DNA Innovative Education Award for the Best Organization to Develop Technology for Education. Also, in the same year, it won KINSES2016 EduAwards. In addition, Vedantu was among the 100 startups by SutraHR. 

In 2015, it was the Online Education Start-up of the year. Also, the Praxis media awarded Vedantu as the ‘Most Promising and Innovative Live Online Tutoring Platform in India’.

He completed his graduation in computer science from West Virginia University in 2006. During his degree, he was awarded for the best presentation in advanced project management. It was for a presentation on “Complex Adaptive Systems in Systems Engineering.” After that, he completed an MS in software engineering from the same university in 2008.

In 2014, he co-founded NodeSource, a first commercial entity to productize Node.js. However, Dan is best known for founding several Node.js start-ups. Includes, Storify, Voxer, and Spreecast. Also, he established the first Node.js consulting company called ‘The Node Firm’. Dan also served at PayPal as a Global Head of Developer relations. Apart from that, he is a speaker at JavaScript, Node.js, and Realtime conferences. In fact, prior to Node, he worked in several important government contracts for Defense, Education, and Health Care.

Dan is also the host of the NodeUp podcast and organizes many events to improve and flourish the Node Community. For example, NodeBots day, NodeBots SF meetup and many such events. He also referred to as a “Voice of Node.js” for his long-time service as a NodeUp podcast host.

The inspiration behind the PharmaEasy foundation was to provide easily accessible healthcare services. Also, at the same time, these services should be affordable and available to all. He noticed many start-ups provide different healthcare services in wide ranges. But there was no such platform that provides home delivery of medicines to the needy patients. 

In the end, Dharmil Sheth and his doctor friend Dhawal Shah came up with the idea to build an e-pharmacy start-up. That’s how they set up PharmEasy back in 2015 to deliver medicines online. Today, the company delivers about 98 percent of the PIN codes across India.

What is Chobolabs?

Chobolabs is a boon for gamers, who wanted their smartphone to be capable of providing real-time gaming experience. As a matter of fact, in the Korean language ‘Chobo’ means newbie or a beginner. However, both Peter and Deyan were programmers first. Also, both are growing up playing competitive games like Counter-Strike, but on computers. As a gamer, they were always searching for such games on mobile phones. In fact, they find several such games. But these games were just a lame copy that wasn’t working on smartphones at all. Being a programmer, they found, it is failed due to the wrong design combination and other technical factors. 

Yet, Peter and Deyan both were knowing that mobiles are capable to do so. Thus, they established Chobolabs to bring such gaming experience on mobile phones. 

Deyan Vitanov- Co-Founder and CEO

Deyan Vitanov is a programmer and entrepreneur, who Co-Founded several start-ups. Includes, Philanthropedia CPP-Home, and Chobolabs. Presently, he is the CEO of a mobile esports company called Chobolabs. 

Early Life

Deyan was born and brought up in Bourgas, Bulgaria. At the age of 9, his father brought a computer for him. Since then he falls in love with programming. Soon, he learned several programming languages proficiently. Like, Pascal, C, C++, etc. Also, he won several national-level programming competitions.

During his high school, Deyan co-founded his first internet company, CPP-Home in 2001. It was the C++ learning hub. 

Education and career

He attended Jacobs University Bremen for his bachelor’s degree in integrated social science. That time, he won the German Academic Exchange service award for his excellent performance in college. After that, he completed an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. In 2008, he co-founded Philanthropedia, which is acquired by GuideStar in 2011.

Peter Dobrev- Co-founder of Chobolabs

In 2012, Peter Dobrev successfully co-founded Chobolabs with Deyan Vitanov. Also, he served proudly as a founding engineer at Philanthropedia. Apart from that, he is the most versatile and skilled ethical hacker. 

He went to Jacobs University, Bremen for his graduation as well as a master’s degree in computer science. During his master’s program, he worked as a research assistant on point-based graphics and multi-variate visualization. Also, he was an intern at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics. Where he assisted in the research and development of an algorithm to estimate height fields from normal maps. 

Presently, he is working on Chobolabs.
